World class collection of amenities in the heart of downtown Indy

White River State Park offers world-class attractions, trails, arts, educational opportunities, and waterways across 250, beautiful acres in downtown Indianapolis.

Attractions include Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens, Eiteljorg Museum, Indianapolis Indians baseball at Victory Field, the state’s largest IMAX® Theater, the NCAA® Hall of Champions, the Indiana State Museum, the 3,500 seat Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park, and numerous walking paths. The park is also on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and the White River Greenway.

Progress Updates

  • 2024

    The first phase of a nearly 15-acre expansion of White River State Park broke ground with plans to transform the former GM crane bay into the Kahn Pavilion for community events, a river theater overlook, large limestone stairs leading to the river, and a promenade trail with swings.

  • 2023

    The Indianapolis Cultural Trail announced in 2023 that it would receive a $21m extension to connect a current trail spur at Lucas Oil Stadium through the planned Indy Eleven Park and over the planned iconic Henry Street Bridge to White River State Park‘s expansion area.

  • 2022

    A 10-acre expansion of White River State Park along the river will be part of the Elanco redevelopment of the former GM Stamping Plant. Planning for the park expansion is currently underway.

  • 2019

    The New York Street Bridge in downtown Indy has installed changeable LED lighting and serves as an icon for the area.
