Art on Film: The Rape of Europa

December 7 @ 1:00 pm 4:00 pm EST

Screened in observance of Pearl Harbor Day, The Rape of Europa chronicles the systematic theft and destruction of European art and culture during World War II. For twelve years countless masterpieces were seized and hidden, prompting a courageous response from young art historians and curators across America and Europe to recover and return these stolen treasures.

Art on Film is a series of thought-provoking documentaries that dive into the world of art through the lens of cinema. This film series is designed to offer unique learning opportunities and, when possible, relate to an art piece or exhibition in the IMA Galleries.

(2006, dir. Richard Berge, Nicole Newnham, & Bonni Cohen, 117 mins, English)
