After a frigid winter\, spring is a special time here as The Garden springs to life with carpets to canopies of fantastic floral abundance. \n\n\n\nSpring makes its grand entrance with Art in Bloom presented by LINNEA\, a four-day-long celebration of art and nature inside the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Now in its sixth year\, the beloved floral extravaganza has become a harbinger of the season to many in Indianapolis. \n\n\n\nOrchids are back! Venture out to the Madeline F. Elder Greenhouse to experience a tropical oasis bursting with opulent orchids\, showcasing the largest plant family on Earth. Use the Spring Blooms Guide to learn about stories and spring traditions from around the world. \n\n\n\nIn early May\, enjoy the StoryWalk\, featuring Wake Up Woods in partnership with the Indianapolis Public Library in The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park as spring ephemerals leap out of their slumber. \n\n\n\nAs the season progresses\, more than 60\,000 new bulbs including daffodils (Narcissus spp.)\, hyacinths\, tulips\, and more will slowly emerge to blanket every corner of The Garden. The latest days of spring will bring spectacular scenes of flowering trees and shrubs\, including favorites like serviceberry (Amelanchier sp.\, also known as shadbush or Junebush)\, eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis) and flowering dogwood (Cornus florida). \n\n\n\nRevel in spring early and often as the season brings something new each day. Enjoy a beverage at Garden Terrace where you can pick up a spring recipe from our Culinary Arts team. Spruce up your gardening collection and visit The Museum & Garden Shop for spring treasures. Enjoy special programming like Greenhouse classes\, art making workshops\, and more.

DESCRIPTION:The Indianapolis Zoo will host its Annual Naturally Inspired Paint Out\, a live en plein air event. Zoo visitors can watch artists create art in real time. A group of distinguished jurors will select 18 artists based on creativity\, integrity of work and sensitivity to and understanding of the subject. Artists selected to participate will receive a $100 stipend to cover material costs and supplies. \n\n\n\nThe Naturally Inspired Paint Out is an opportunity for artists to gain professional exposure while supporting the Zoo’s important conservation and education goals. In addition to showcasing their work to tens of thousands of Zoo members and guests at the Naturally Inspired Art Show\, the artists’ work will be featured in the Indianapolis Zoo Member eNews\, with a circulation of more than 400\,000 in Indiana and beyond.
