Threads of Resurgence Opening Reception with Carlos Rolón

August 23 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm EDT

Join artist Carlos Rolón for an opening reception and conversation about his new exhibition, Threads of Resurgence.

The exhibition features six newly commission large-scale works constructed from repurposed FEMA-distributed tarps that were once used to makeshift roofs in Puerto Rican communities impacted by climate disaster.

Artist Carlos Rolón transforms this recognizable utilitarian material into beautiful tapestries that symbolize survival and endurance. The embroidered works also bring awareness to the struggles of Puerto Ricans affected by multiple recent climate disasters and confronts the realities of Puerto Rico’s complex relationship with colonialism and economic hardship.
